Interwar Peak (1918–1945) · Skillet
Used price$95–$150live on eBay
The Wagner Ware No. 9 is about 11¼ inches across the top — one size up from the common No. 8, not an equivalent of it. It carries the "stylized" Wagner Ware logo (a single large fancy W serving both words, with SIDNEY and -O- below) and catalog number 1059, usually with a letter (1059 B, 1059 C). Wagner introduced the stylized logo around 1922; heat-ring versions with the catalog number are the earlier castings (about the mid-1920s to mid-1930s) and smooth-bottom versions follow up to about 1959. Heat-ring pans tend to ask a little more; they cook the same. The cooking surface was milled smooth. Before buying: look for a clear 9 and 1059 under the logo, test for rocking and spinning on a flat surface, look for hairline cracks from the rim, and check for pitting and plating — nickel-plated pans flake and are better as projects. Several sellers reuse identical titles, so compare the photos.
Common defects to inspect
Warp or spin; hairline rim cracks; nickel plating that flakes; pitting; numbers softened by blasting; size confusion (a No. 9 is larger than a No. 8 from any maker)
Note: Most listings ask about $95–150 delivered; restored pans run about $20 more than as-found.
How to identify a real Wagner Ware
Stylized Wagner Ware Sidney -O- logo on the bottom with a four-digit catalog number (1058 on the No. 8 skillet, 1059 on the No. 9) and a mold letter; earlier pans show a plain WAGNER or Wagner Ware mark with SIDNEY O. and a size number. Later pieces read Wagner Ware with MADE IN USA. Magnalite pieces are aluminum, not iron.
Buying guide
From Oct 1, 2026 listings
12 genuine Wagner Ware No. 9 skillets (pattern 1059) were listed at the late-September check, and two have since sold: the nickel-plated pan with the lowest total and a $150 heat-ring pan. Most ask about $95–150 delivered. Heat-ring versions are the earlier castings and usually sit at the top of the range, though two are under $100 today; smooth-bottom ones cook the same. Look for a clear 9 and 1059 under the stylized Sidney -O- logo, and ask whether it sits flat without spinning. Listings titled 9-inch are No. 6s; a No. 9 is about 11¼ inches. Two listings from different sellers share an identical title, so compare their photos. Cooks: the restored 9D; collectors: a heat-ring 1059.

A No. 9 the title measures at 11¼ inches, about $97 delivered, Buy It Now, from a 99.4% seller, the lowest total and at the bottom of the $95–150 band. Ask for a heel photo confirming 1059 and a photo of it on a flat counter.
