Interwar Peak (1918–1945) · Dutch Oven
Used price$240–$290live on eBay
The Drip Drop Roaster is a Wagner round roaster (Dutch oven) sold with its "Drip Drop Baster" lid: the lid's underside has a grid of drip points so condensation falls back onto the food, and its top is lettered DRIP DROP. Early lids carry a series of patent dates from 1917 to 1922. It was made in several sizes; the No. 8 body (catalog 1268, about 10¼ inches inside) is the one most often listed, with No. 9 and No. 10 roasters also turning up. Before buying: confirm the lid is a genuine Drip Drop lid of the same size as the body, with matching Wagner marks, and that it seats without rocking — a plain or mismatched lid can halve the value. Check the body and lid for cracks, especially at the bail ears, look for chips on the lid ledge, and check for pitting under the drip points. Ask for a photo of the body bottom to confirm the size.
Common defects to inspect
Plain or mismatched lid; wrong-size lid; cracks at the bail ears; lid-ledge chips; pitting around the drip points; size not stated in the title
Note: Complete roasters ask roughly $200–310 delivered. Some sellers call these oval; ask for a photo of the shape before paying for a rarer variant.
How to identify a real Wagner Ware
Stylized Wagner Ware Sidney -O- logo on the bottom with a four-digit catalog number (1058 on the No. 8 skillet, 1059 on the No. 9) and a mold letter; earlier pans show a plain WAGNER or Wagner Ware mark with SIDNEY O. and a size number. Later pieces read Wagner Ware with MADE IN USA. Magnalite pieces are aluminum, not iron.
Buying guide
From Oct 1, 2026 listings
Six Wagner Drip Drop roasters are shown here, at about $130–309 delivered: three No. 8s, a hammered-finish 2248, a No. 9 A and a No. 10. The Drip Drop is a round roaster whose baster lid has a DRIP DROP pattern underneath (patents 1917–22); the No. 8 is catalog 1268, the size this page covers, so the No. 9 A and No. 10 are larger versions of the same design. Check that the lid has the drip pattern and the same Wagner Ware script as the base, since a mismatched lid can halve the value, and ask for photos of the lid's underside and the bottom. The $130 No. 8 is far under the others, so check its lid and size before buying.

A No. 8 with the Drip Drop baster named in the title, $130 with free shipping, Buy It Now, from a 99.7% seller, about $110 under the $240–290 band. A price that far under the others needs checking: ask for photos of the lid's underside and the body bottom to confirm the drip pattern, the size and matching marks.
